A few words on ... Heroic Defenses.

Hi, Comrade Commanders,

As you all know, SWC gives us the opportunity, twice a day, to test our defensive strategies, and that's what Heroic Defenses are all about!

When you click the button "Defend Now", your base will be attacked by a group of "enemy" troops, all of them of the same level as your own HQ.
There are 3 different possibilities in regard the composition of those troops: (1) mostly infantry; (2) mostly vehicles, or; (3) a balanced mix of infantry and vehicles.
When your Scout Tower "lights up", you can see which of the above 3 options will be in action on the next defense.

Apart from your defensive layout, you could also use your Heroes, the troops in your Squad Center and your Starfighters, to help defeating those attacking troops.
In my own experience, I only use Heroes (3 at my level) to strengthen my base defenses, and that much has been enough to win 99% of the Heroic Defenses. Since I was at HQ5 level, I think I only missed one Heroic Defense opportunity.

The costs.

In the worst possible case (even if you lose the defense), the costs of taking that "test" will amount to the amount of alloy necessary to re-arm the triggered traps, and the "coins" spent in the troops that you involve in your defense.
This means that you will not lose any medals, and no resources will be stolen from your depots.
If you lose the battle, you'll be able to repeat it ... or not. It will be up to you to decide.

The benefits.

Apart from being able to test your own defensive strategy (your base layout, the turret placement, wall and trap location, and a.s.o.), the most important benefit of taking these Heroic Defenses comes within the crates you can win (1 crate for each victory).

From my own experience, I can estimate that almost 40% of the crates I have won came from winning Heroic Defenses, and if you read my post about "Crates", you'll understand why I suggest you take every opportunity to win some of those.

Anyhow, if you belong to the group of those I call "HQ racers" (players who upgrade HQ before they upgrade their base defenses), the Heroic Defenses will only prove to you how wrong your game plan is, and you'll lose the majority (or the totality, ahahah) of this kind of battle, and all its benefit possibilities.

Have fun,
KOTALBU

First message about ... TROOP DONATIONS.

Hi, Comrade Commanders, Seven months after I started playing the Disney's Star Wars Commander (SWC) online game, I am even more fascinated with it then I was during the first playing hours: this game has everything to fully please "strategy games" fans. But I didn't decide to start this blog to advertise the immense qualities of the game. In fact, right or wrong, the SWC has such a complex structure that players would need to invest hundreds of reading/watching hours in tutorials to be sure of escaping dramatic errors, much less become capable of optimizing their game options. I must confess that it took me several weeks to really start understanding the "logic" of SWC basic algorithms, and I have red, only too often, other player's confessions stating that they had to close previous game accounts, in order to bypass ancient dramatic errors (learned from experience), in a simple option of the "let's restart this thing" kind. If they...

Ressources and ... Contraband

Hi, Comrade Commanders, Our Comrade Yeu VTH asked me to write something about "Contraband" and, as this is one of the fundamental purposes of this blog, here is what I find most relevant about this issue... Coins and Alloy . There isn't much I can say about these "traditional" resources, except that they should go along with your game plan. Let me explain what I meant: until just a few days, I never worried about these resources, because I could find them every time I needed them ... "steeling" from the rebel scum. But this reality has changed for me, since I upgraded to HQ8! Those who follow this blog already know that I had "complained" for being "matched" only with level 9 (or even 10) opponents. Anyhow, and until just a few days, I always succeeded winning my battles, therefore steeling enough resources to match my needs, but this reality has changed, and not only was I "forced" to escape Dandoran (the ...
