Hi, Comrade Commanders,
Seven months after I started playing the Disney's Star Wars Commander (SWC) online game, I am even more fascinated with it then I was during the first playing hours: this game has everything to fully please "strategy games" fans.
But I didn't decide to start this blog to advertise the immense qualities of the game.
In fact, right or wrong, the SWC has such a complex structure that players would need to invest hundreds of reading/watching hours in tutorials to be sure of escaping dramatic errors, much less become capable of optimizing their game options.
I must confess that it took me several weeks to really start understanding the "logic" of SWC basic algorithms, and I have red, only too often, other player's confessions stating that they had to close previous game accounts, in order to bypass ancient dramatic errors (learned from experience), in a simple option of the "let's restart this thing" kind.
If they took that option, considering that they already new everything about the game, my advice would be ... think (at least) twice!
All things considered, let's be practical. Let me start with one of the most simple concepts of this game (a real life lesson) and, as days (and comments) go by, we'll adress those that will arouse either from discussions, or my own choice.
SWC IS A SQUAD GAME
If you play it alone, your chances of becoming one of the strongest players are close to zero!
The first determinent item that a good Squad can bring into your game is ... troop donations. My own belief in this question is so strong that not only the upgrading of the Squad Center (SC) is my first priority, but my record stats prove (circa 7,000 troops donated and 2,000 received) that "I put my money where I put my words".
Non-donators are the worst possible kind of player, both for the fact and for their ridiculous excuses.
As well as in real life, individual success in SWC is related to some kind of team performance and, in my own experience, I would never have achieved what I already did without the help of so many (some of which I don't even recall their "names") who allowed me to:
1) win some hard fought defenses;
2) win some hard fought attacks;
3) collect more then 200 Reputation Points (most of wich were invested); and, above all,
4) collect around 200 crates, in my dayly planet objectives.
If you add to these advantages all those that came, indirectly, from the exact same benefits of all my present Squad Comrades, whose strengh is one serious plus to my game, in case of Squad War and more, you should start to realize how determinent donations/requests are in SWC.
In the most simple words, no player should log-off without is SC full of the best possible defensive troops!
As well as no player should "find a match" (I'll come back to this fundamental word "match" in a future post) without his SC full of the best possible troops coherent with his attack strategy!
Do I allways use my SC troops in my attacks?
No, absolutely not!
But I allways have them at hand, to use (respect your opponents) when the defenses I face prove to be too strong for my basic attack strategy and troops. And the troops I have been donated by my Squad Comrades have been essential in many of my victories.
This is it, Comrades: if I want to fullfill my promise of "keeping it simple", I'd better stop writting for today, and wellcome your comentaries as debate contributions.
Adition # 1 (2018.01.05)
As I think that our Squad has to grow one step higher, I suggest you all start making more specific troop requests.
For example, I suggest you request:
1) "turret attacking", when you are on one attack streak; or
2) "anti infantry", if you are going to log out and prefer defensive reinforcements: or, as I usually do
3) "Speeder Bikes", if you prefer one "all round" kind of troops, that will do well in both ofensive and defensive battles.
I urge all Comrades to RESPECT specific requests and donate each other what you are asked, rather then what you prefer.
Have fun,
KOTALBU
